This privacy policy covers the ChefTalk app, available on Apple's App Store, and our website at cheftalk.ai.
Email Addresses: When you create an account or sign up for our updates, we collect your email address to run your account and to send you the communications you have opted into. You can manage these at any time on our email preferences page.
Sharing Details: If you share a recipe or cookbook, we may store your first name to show who shared it. If you turn on a public recipe page, we store the display name and the handle (for example @dana) that you choose, and which cookbooks and recipes you put on it. These are shown publicly on your page.
App Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage data to improve the app's performance, including:
Subscriptions: ChefTalk Premium is sold as an in-app purchase. All payments are processed by Apple; we never receive or store your payment card details. We record only whether your account has an active subscription.
Voice Interactions: ChefTalk processes voice commands locally on your device when possible. Voice data is only sent to our servers for processing when necessary to provide cooking guidance, and is not stored permanently.

Shared links: When you share a recipe or cookbook, anyone with the link can see a copy of it as it was when you shared it: its title, photo, ingredients, steps and source, along with your first name ("Shared by"). You can stop sharing a link at any time in the app, which deletes the shared copy, and links stop working when you delete the recipe, the cookbook or your account.
Public recipe page: Your public page is optional and off unless you turn it on. When it is on, your display name, your handle and the cookbooks and recipes you pick are visible to anyone at cheftalk.ai/@your-handle, and the page updates as you edit them. Public pages are hidden from search engines. Turning the page off hides it. If you change your handle, the old address stops working. Deleting your account removes the page and frees your handle.
What is never shared: Your email address, notes, favorites and cooking stats are never included in a shared link or on your public page, and neither is any recipe or cookbook you haven't chosen to share.
Receiving a recipe: When you add a shared recipe or cookbook, a copy is saved to your own library. Your copy is yours: it stays in your library even if the person who shared it stops sharing or deletes their account.
Reports: Every public page has a "Report this page" link. Reports go to [email protected].
Our website, including shared links and public pages, is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. We use IP addresses only to limit how many requests can be made in a short time: they are held in memory for about a minute and never stored. Website analytics are cookie-free and don't identify you. Site icons shown next to imported recipes are fetched by our servers and served from our own domain, so your browser doesn't contact other websites to show them.
Your email addresses are stored securely and will only be used for ChefTalk-related communications. We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

ChefTalk integrates with recipe websites to import cooking instructions. When you import a recipe, you are subject to that website's privacy policy for any data they collect.
ChefTalk is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this privacy policy as ChefTalk evolves. We will notify you of any significant changes via email or an in-app notice.
